The (way too) familiar design and virtually unmodified specifications of the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) make the previous edition an absolute must-buy at the right price… if you can find it. That’s definitely the case right now, as Best Buy charges a measly $324.99 for Samsung’s first-gen rugged smartwatch in a “Titanium White” colorway.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will be seeing some significant visual changes next year, some of which make the S26 Ultra look ancient. Due to these changes, the S Pen — which Samsung will keep, thankfully — is also undergoing a minor cosmetic change, according to a new leak.
The S26 Ultra will have much rounder corners compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which itself broke the tradition of Samsung’s unique, boxy look. As such, the S Pen’s external end, the bit that is visible when the pen is stored away inside the phone, will also be becoming curvier (translated source).
While not a big deal in of itself, it does put into perspective just how much the S26 Ultra is going to resemble the iPhone 17. Not only is Samsung making the edges a lot more curved, the Galaxy S26 Edge will apparently also feature a large rear camera module, very much like the iPhone 17 Pro.
Personally, I was already pretty bummed when the S25 Ultra dropped the sharp edges, but at least it still looks like a modern smartphone. The Galaxy S26 Ultra, what with its downright ugly rear camera module, looks positively archaic.

Make no mistake, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is going to be a superb phone in every other aspect. It will feature the brilliantly capable Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 — though some regions may get Exynos — and it will also finally come with a tangible camera upgrade. The battery, unfortunately, will still remain at Samsung’s usual 5,000 mAh.
But, considering the redesign of the phone, I would personally choose the Galaxy S26 Edge. Both the standard model, which will reportedly be called the Galaxy S26 Pro, and the Ultra model will feature the outdated design that I heavily dislike.
If you don’t want the Edge and also find the new designs unpleasant to look at, but still want to stick with Samsung, perhaps it’s time to give the company’s foldable phones a try. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a brilliant phone: powerful, beautiful, and actually practical.

Samsung is already one of the leaders in consumer audio thanks to its subsidiary Harman, which the Korean company acquired in a massive $8 billion deal in 2016. Now, that subsidiary has closed a new deal that will bring some of the most iconic audiophile brands to Samsung’s audio empire.
Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Polk, and other brands are now part of Samsung
Samsung has stepped even deeper into the audiophile world and is now the owner of legendary brands like Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Marantz, Polk, and others. That happened after Harman, a subsidiary of Samsung, acquired Sound United, the former consumer audio business of Masimo. Yes, the same Masimo that had to pay $250 to Apple over its Apple Watch lawsuit.The $350 million deal, which was first announced in May, will help Samsung expand its already impressive audio brand portfolio. Through Harman, Samsung already owned some of the most popular audio brands, such as Harman Kardon, JBL, and AKG. Harman says that the deal is a “strategic milestone” for the company.
Combining Sound United’s distinguished portfolio with its world-renowned audio business enables HARMAN to deliver one of the most comprehensive audio portfolios in the industry.

Is that going to affect Samsung’s other products?

If you expect to get a pretty Bowers & Wilkins speaker or headphones with the Galaxy S26, you’d be disappointed. Sound United will operate as a standalone business under the lifestyle division of Harman. The goal of that move is for every audio brand to preserve its identity.
The company also notes that the newly acquired brands will be able to use Harman’s resources to grow their capabilities and reach. Apparently, Harman also plans to use the expertise and talent Sound United will bring in. All that sounds similar to Samsung’s approach with Harman, which operates independently.
Comfort has beaten hi-fi already
I wouldn’t mind if Samsung improves the audio on its phones and dives deeper into mobile hi-fi, but that would be rather pointless. Comfort has won the battle, and we’re now used to listening to compressed audio from streaming services through Bluetooth. I don’t see that changing anytime soon, and honestly, I don’t think many people even care.

A breakdown of the One UI 8.5 launcher app, done by Android Authority, shows references to AI Agents. While the specific way they’ll work is still unclear, it appears one of their features will allow users to ask questions and receive concise answers.The feature may be available through a new launcher shortcut, which might replace the Google Search bar. Users may have the option to choose between Gemini, Perplexity, or Samsung’s Gauss, which powers Galaxy AI, as the AI provider for that feature.
An instruction set found in the code mentions that the AI must gather search information and boil it down to a direct answer to the question. The answer has to be friendly and no longer than three sentences. The feature might bear the name “Finder AI,” but that could be just an internal name.

Probably everyone who has tried asking Siri anything has heard the phrase “I found some web results” instead of a clear answer. Even with Apple Intelligence, Apple hasn’t solved that, and iPhone users are still waiting for the so-called smart Siri to arrive.

A stable version of One UI 8 has started reaching the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, following two beta releases over the past few weeks. The update has started showing up on devices in South Korea, according to tech leaker Tarun Vats at X (ex-Twitter).According to the schedule Samsung previously shared, last year’s foldables were supposed to receive the One UI 8 update in October. That could still be the case, as this latest release is for now only reaching users who were enrolled in the beta testing program.
The stable release for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a firmware version F956NKSU2CYI7, while the Galaxy Z Flip 6 version is F741NKSU2CYI6. The software on both devices features the September 2025 Android security patch.

After the issues Samsung had with the rollout of One UI 7, it is a refreshing change to see the company sticking to schedule with One UI 8. That is likely the result of the company’s new development process, which follows in Google’s steps.Apparently, that won’t be just a one-time achievement. The company is already working on the development of One UI 8.5, and we’ve even seen some early images of it. The only thing left for Samsung to learn from Apple is to release its software across devices right away.
For years, Apple has released iOS simultaneously on all iPhone models that support the new version. That’s why iOS 26, which is preinstalled on the iPhone 17 lineup, was pushed to all devices from iPhone 11 to iPhone 16 at the same time.
Great news for Android
Samsung is setting a great example for the whole Android ecosystem, and I’d hope other brands follow suit. Android phones are notoriously slow at getting software updates, despite Google’s effort to change that. That process is still in the control of manufacturers, so we can only hope they start seeing it as a competitive advantage and improve the update schedules for everyone.

Samsung has hardly started the global rollout of One UI 8 to the Galaxy S25 series before a firmware for One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S25 Ultra was spotted. Now, we can get a first look at what that update is going to look like.
One UI 8.5 may come with a refreshed interface
Shortly after the One UI 8.5 firmware was spotted on Samsung’s servers, a developer managed to modify the build initially meant for the Galaxy S25 Ultra and run it on a Galaxy S21 Plus. The result is the first images of One UI 8.5 in action, which were shared by SammyGuru and reveal the refreshed UI design.
One of the images shows the Settings menu with more compact items without subtitles. A major change is that the search bar is now at the bottom, making it much more easily accessible. Both the top and the bottom have an overflow gradient, and all the containers and the search bar have drop shadows.
Entering the search page shows various categories in a three-column grid. Once you’re inside a menu in Settings, you’ll see the back button floating over the content with its own drop shadow, which appears similar to some of the UI elements in iOS 26. The container inside the menu also has a drop shadow, which makes it appear elevated above the background.
Don’t expect One UI 8.5 on your phone anytime soon

It may seem impressive that Samsung has started working on One UI 8.5 so quickly, but that doesn’t mean its release is imminent. The company will most likely launch it with the Galaxy S26 series, which is expected in January. However, there’s a chance that Galaxy S25 users may get it a bit earlier.
What the final changes to the software may be is yet unclear, but it is interesting that Samsung already seems inspired by the recently released iOS 26. Hopefully, the company will also get inspired by Apple’s release strategy and release the software quickly and for many devices.
That’s a good sign from Samsung
The surprisingly good part of that leak is that it confirms Samsung’s commitment never to repeat the delays of the One UI 7 release. I don’t expect the company to suddenly start releasing software on a perfect schedule, but even slight delays would be a big improvement.

While Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone is almost ready for premiere, some key details are still unclear. Probably the most important unknown is where exactly the phone will be available, but there may be some good news for people in the US.
The tri-fold Galaxy may arrive in the US
Samsung is still weighing which markets to release its upcoming tri-fold smartphone in, and the US is part of the conversation, according to a new report. Citing “a person familiar with the company’s plans”, CNN reports that Samsung is “considering” releasing the device in the US and other markets.That would be a change of strategy for the company, which typically launches new smartphone categories in a more limited way. The last example is the Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE, which was only available in South Korea and China.

Samsung is not the first company to launch a smartphone with two hinges that fold into three sections, which gives it the “tri-fold” moniker. The pioneer of that form factor was Huawei, which has already released the second generation of its tri-fold phone. However, Huawei doesn’t sell its products in the US.
The device, which may be called Galaxy TriFold, will be released before the end of the year, with some rumors suggesting a premiere as early as October. That new report is the first time anyone has suggested that Samsung is thinking of a global launch instead of a limited release, which could serve as a test before a wider release at a later point.
The ultimate early adopter gadget
As a gadget nerd, I’m excited about the idea of making a brand-new form factor more widely available. Lately, some of the most innovative smartphone developments have been taking place in China, without reaching the American market. If Samsung actually launches its tri-fold in the US, that would be a pleasant surprise for many Americans. It could also help the form factor develop faster. After all, if it succeeds in arguably the most important market in the world, Samsung will have an incentive to keep improving it.

With the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, the Galaxy flagship returned to rounded edges and a more traditional design. While I was a huge fan of the boxier look of its predecessors, many of you actually love the new design a lot more, at least if a poll that you participated in is to be believed.
Over 6,000 of you voted in a poll asking about your opinions on the Galaxy S25 Ultra redesign, and almost 47 percent of you said that you love how the phone looks. There was a pretty even split amongst the remaining votes on whether the design was bad, or something that you were indifferent on.

Samsung wanted to make its flagship smartphone more comfortable to hold and use for extended periods of time. While this is true of the S25 Ultra — compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra and prior — it did rob the company’s phones of their unique, almost authoritative look.
But, Samsung did manage to strike a pretty reasonable balance between its iconic look, and a more comfortable and more traditional design. The S25 Ultra still looks and feels like a very modern phone, something that may not be said about the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra.
According to leaks, the Galaxy S26 Ultra looks ancient, especially when compared to its own predecessor. Samsung, in my opinion, is going a bit too far with the redesign of its upcoming flagship phone. Rounded edges look okay, but the S26 Ultra is basically an iPhone 17 Pro with a much uglier rear camera module.
So, now the question is whether you’re still okay with the direction that Samsung is taking. Those polls results would argue yes, but the S26 Ultra is getting even more radical. Are you happy with how the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to look? What about the Galaxy S26 Edge? According to multiple leaks, the Galaxy S26 Edge redesign is a very “inspired” change, to put it mildly.
