A Louisiana dad spoke out after explicit deepfake images of his 13-year-old daughter and others were allegedly shared, saying, “It’s disturbing. Those pictures are horrible. They’re extremely explicit, and they look real. You cannot tell the difference.”

When I first glanced at the OnePlus 15, I couldn’t believe how generic it looked. Gone is the signature design language, gone is the Alert Slider, gone is the curved screen. It just looks like just another iPhone clone from afar.
That plain look translates to a sturdier, more practical phone. The flat sides make it better prepared if an accidental drop happens, the flat display makes it much easier to install a screen protector and the extra-tough IP rating makes it feel prepared for the real world.
It’s not all perfect. Shots from the ultra-wide camera look colder than those from the main one, and some essential features like adding a portrait mode effect on a regular image are non-existent. But I see progress. I did not feel like I was using a mid-range camera this time around.
I’m not much of a gamer lately, but you just cannot ignore this type of performance.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 absolutely tears through everything. Even after long gaming sessions, it just doesn’t throttle. OnePlus basically built a mini gaming phone, just look at the numbers on the intense 3D Mark Wildlife Extreme stress test. 99% stability, no throttling, blazing fast performance.
This combines well with OnePlus’ DNA of optimiing every animation for smoothness and just how snappy the UI feels. Also, 165 Hertz refresh rate! This works only for some games and in daily use the phone still works as a regular 120Hz device, but in those few competitive games you get an extra edge.
This is the part that impressed me the most.
The contrast is striking now: a 7,300 mAh battery on the OnePlus 15 and a 5,000 mAh battery on the Galaxy S25 Ultra that costs nearly half as much!
I’m running out of superlatives here, but this is truly insane. This was a two-day phone for me, even on those days I used it more than usual.Charging is also equally impressive, but we are kind of used to fast charging OnePlus phones and that’s why we might take it a bit for granted. But still, a full top-up in just 45 minutes is just such a quality of life feature.
So far, my experience with the OnePlus 15 is overwhelmingly positive, but still, I did notice some things could improve.
First and foremost, it was about the software. Having an iOS copy-cat is just not cool and I wish OnePlus developed some personality in the UI. Plus, many apps are just not optimized well, with empty spaces or strangely sized fonts.
Here are a few other smaller complaints I have:
I think it makes a strong case for itself, unless you really want the absolute best camera system where Apple or Samsung still have a number of advantages.
But if you are fine with a camera that is just “very good”, you are getting a battery life that is “insane”, a similarly impressive fast charging and a price tag that is much lighter on the wallet. Not bad, right?

A common misconception about location spoofing on smartphones is that the best way to do it is by using a VPN. Reroute your connection through a server in Tokyo, and you’ll suddenly have access to exclusive anime available only in Japan.
LocaChange works by simulating your device’s GPS location at the system level. This allows you to seamlessly change where your phone appears to be with just a few taps, making apps and games believe you’re in a different place.
LocaChange operates at the system level, allowing it to override your device’s real GPS coordinates with coordinates of your choosing. This alters the location data that your operating system feeds to apps, making them think you’re in the location you’ve set within LocaChange.
For instance, I’ve never been to Vancouver but have always wanted to go there. A lot of movies and TV series are filmed there, including my all-time favorites, Stargate SG-1 and its spinoff, Stargate Atlantis. So it was among the first places I decided to “teleport” to. The moment I jumped to Vancouver, my phone’s clock adjusted to Pacific Time, Google Maps and Waze displayed Vancouver’s streets, and even Google Chrome suggested local restaurants when I asked it to show the restaurants around me.
LocaChange has dedicated versions for Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac, allowing you to use it regardless of which platform you’re rocking. My phone runs on Android, so I mainly used the Android version, though I also tried the ones for iPhone and PC.
I quite like that the app holds your hand through every step of the setup process, as it isn’t as simple as just downloading the app, installing it, and then “teleporting” to another location.

Something to keep in mind, though, is that applications might cache the spoofed coordinates and continue displaying them even after resetting with LocaChange. If an app still shows the old coordinates, reopening or refreshing the map should fix the issue. However, if the problem persists, restarting the phone will surely resolve it.
The thing I don’t like about AR games is that you constantly have to be out and about to hunt, loot, or collect items. Since your avatar moves when you move, you just can’t lie in bed and play like you would with games such as Candy Crush or Genshin Impact. And traversing the city 24/7 to hunt for Pokémon isn’t an acceptable excuse for any teacher or employer—even for the PhoneArena team.
But with LocaChange, I was able to hunt Pokémon right from my office chair. The app has a “teleport” feature that enables you to jump from point A to point B in a matter of milliseconds. All you need to do is type where you want to go and then press “Move” when you see the dialog box showing where the system thinks you’re currently located and where you want to jump to. This is really sweet, especially since you may be in an area where not much is going on at the moment and can just jump to a place where it could be full of loot and monsters.

Of course, constantly jumping from place to place isn’t a good option either, since we still can’t teleport, and you’ll look suspicious doing that as well. That’s why the app also lets you set up a two-point or multi-point route and simulate realistic walking. It basically moves your location and character at the same pace you’d normally walk, bike, or drive, but without you moving in the real world. You can also adjust the speed, and it shows the distance your character will traverse as well as how much time it will take at the set speed.

If you want to feel more engaged without leaving the comfort of your home, you can also use the built-in on-screen joystick to move around the map freely.

I was surprised to see that the application helps in another way. With just a tap of a button, it scours your surrounding area, searching for valuable loot, Pokémon, and raids. So, no more aimless wandering, as you’ll instantly know if there’s a Gengar lurking nearby, a five-star raid near you, or a PokéStop dropping a handful of Poké Balls and a Pinap Berry. These LocaChange features work on Monster Hunter Now, too, so you’ll have the upper hand in this game as well.
To top it off, the app even creates a route, allowing your character to pick up every loot item automatically while simulating a realistic walk. I’ll admit, I used this feature more than once during my testing, since I was at work and couldn’t exactly spend countless hours roaming the city in search of loot.
Something to keep in mind, though, is that you will need to download separate game installation files for full gaming mode functionality.
LocaChange may be an app that can spoof your location, but it’s clearly more than that. With its radar functionality, it gives you an edge over other players, whether you’re a Pokémon hunter or a monster slayer. Meanwhile, its routing features and real-walk simulation ensure you won’t get shadow-banned while hunting from home. And since it’s compatible with any device, you can use it regardless of whether you’re in Apple’s ecosystem or prefer Android over iOS. Learn more and check out LocaChange at the link below:

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is already an expensive gadget. | Image by PhoneArena
Reuters highlights how Samsung has sharply raised prices on several DDR5 memory chips, according to people familiar with the situation. These chips are normally used in servers that power AI models, but they’re also found inside smartphones, tablets, and laptops. With supply tightening fast, Samsung reportedly lifted prices for some models by as much as 60% between September and November.
These jumps are unusually steep. One major distributor told Reuters that Samsung’s 32 GB DDR5 modules climbed from $149 in September to $239 in November. Prices for 16 GB and 128 GB chips rose about 50%, and other configurations saw increases of more than 30%. Samsung hasn’t commented publicly, but a second source confirmed the hikes. The reason is simple: demand for memory chips in AI servers has exploded. Companies building data centers are scrambling for supply and are now paying heavy premiums to secure whatever they can. Some buyers have even started panic-ordering as shortages worsen. The crunch is so severe that China’s SMIC says companies are delaying other chip purchases simply because memory has become too hard to source.
Even Xiaomi warned that the rising costs are already making phone manufacturing more expensive.
As you may remember, Xiaomi recently launched their new Redmi K90 series, and Xiaomi president Lu Weibing explained on social media that the sharp rise in memory prices has already forced them to set higher launch prices (compared to the Redmi K80). He also warned that these costs could continue to climb if the shortage drags on.
For smartphones, the danger is indirect but real. DDR5 isn’t just a server part; it’s also used in high-end phones and tablets. If memory pricing stays this high, phone makers may have to swallow the extra cost or pass it on to consumers through more expensive flagship models. The reputable tipster Digital Chat Station, for example, expects the latter:
The price increase of memory is more serious than everyone thinks. It will be gradually passed on to the consumer end from the supply chain. In the future, we will see that products with large storage capacity will become more and more expensive. […] A few months ago, I said that memory prices were rising, and the recent wave of new phones has confirmed this. LPDDR5X (RAM) is currently showing a significant upward trend. The industry predicts that the memory price of new flagships next year will increase by 20-30% year-on-year.
– Digital Chat Station account on Weibo, October 2025
This comes at a time when companies everywhere are watching their budgets.
From where I see it, this kind of memory crunch is bound to hit smartphones sooner or later. Even if phone makers try to hold off on raising prices, something’s going to give – slimmer margins, fewer promotions, or smaller memory in base models. With supply deals now locking in prices into 2026 and 2027, I wouldn’t be surprised if high memory costs become the new normal.

This is a big timesaver when you are meeting a fellow iPhone user for the first time and want to exchange contact information. If you start the exchange while in AirDrop range and walk out of range, the rest of the information is swapped securely over the internet. A user can decide whether he wants to swap Contact Posters with another iPhone user or just receive the other person’s information without giving out his own.
With NameDrop, Near Field Communications (NFC), the same technology that allows you to tap on a point-of-sale terminal and use Apple Pay. is used to make the initial handshake between the two iPhone units and signals both phones that the users want to share information. Once that is done, AirDrop takes over the next step and using the combination of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for discovery and transfer respectively, the Contact Posters are swapped. So, we can say that when it comes to NameDrop, NFC starts the process, and AirDrop finishes it off.

The user can decide to send any combination of these three data points to the other Android wielding party. Tapping the “Receive only” button will allow the user to get the other party’s information without sharing his own. The other party’s information comes in the form of a page that says, “Contact received.” Hit the Save button and this new information becomes a new contact on your phone. There are a couple of icons on this card that allow the user to start a video chat or send a text to the Android user whose info he received.

According to a new report (translated source), Apple is getting ready to begin the transition from LTPO displays to HMO displays on its products. HMO display technology is relatively very new, and it will take a good few years before we see our first iPhone with an HMO screen. However, much like what happened with LTPO, the industry may quickly adapt HMO displays if Apple goes all in and manages to produce something better than the former.

Apple brought LTPO to its phones with the iPhone 13 Pro. | Image credit — PhoneArena
So, what exactly makes HMO displays more enticing than the LTPO displays of today? According to the report, there are three major advantages to HMO displays, all of which might directly affect the end consumer in a positive way.
For starters, HMO displays would allow Apple to achieve higher resolutions on its phones. If the iPhone keeps increasing in size, Apple will be able to keep increasing its resolution as well, to maintain today’s level of clarity on larger screens.Secondly, HMO panels use less power than LTPO displays. If Apple continues to use standard Li-ion batteries (though, admittedly, it used a silicon-carbon anode in the iPhone 17), then lower power consumption will obviously help a great deal in extending battery life. And, if the company switches to silicon-carbon batteries entirely, the lowered power consumption will still help.Lastly, HMO displays cost less to manufacture than their LTPO counterparts. A reduction in the manufacturing costs might allow Apple to keep its prices lower than expected for a few more generations, which is great news for consumers.
Will HMO panels take the smartphone industry by storm? Or will phone manufacturers still stick with LTPO because that’s what they’re used to?
If I had to guess, then in a few years we’ll start to see LTPO start getting phased out across the industry, at least for flagship phones. Even if nothing else, the reduced manufacturing costs themselves should be incentive enough for most phone manufacturers to make the switch.

Apple’s 2024 flagship is still nothing to snark at. It has all the same software features, about the same cameras, save for super-pro modes like ProRes RAW Log 2 recording. If that didn’t mean anything to you, you’ll feel perfectly fine with an iPhone 16 Pro in your hands. And you save about $200 on what is essentially an excellent device that’s still hard to beat. Item prices vary by condition, color, and availability.

The International Trade Commission (ITC) agreed and issued an import ban blocking affected Apple Watch units with the feature from getting shipped to the U.S. Apple tried to come up with a workaround, but that became impossible, and Apple decided against licensing Masimo’s technology. As a result, the tech giant had no choice but to shut down the feature in the U.S.
However, Apple is not off the hook yet. The ITC has filed papers seeking to hold a new proceeding to determine whether the reworked solution from Apple also infringes on Masimo’s patents. In the filing, the ITC wrote that it “has determined to institute a combined modification and enforcement proceeding” to determine whether the revised pulse ox feature for the Apple Watch is permitted under the ITC import ban that forced Apple to disable the feature in the first place. This will be the sole issue to be resolved by the commission.
“Through its parallel district court litigation and the present petition, Masimo seeks to pressure the Commission to exceed its statutory authority and prevent millions of Americans from accessing Apple’s redesigned Blood Oxygen feature
-Apple’s latest filing on ITC case
The ITC says that the redesigned version was not included in the original investigation, which gives the federal agency the justification to hold a new procedure over the revised technology now used by Apple. Part of what the ITC will have to determine is whether having a paired iPhone perform the necessary calculations and analysis, and display the results means that Apple is no longer infringing on Masimo’s patents.
Apple pointed out during the original hearings that Masimo’s complaint was based on a Masimo Watch that wasn’t available at the time. In a recent filing about the case, Apple wrote, “Masimo has no meaningful domestic industry product that would benefit from this exclusion—its asserted domestic industry product, the Masimo W1, has still not been sold in more than de minimis quantities even two years after the conclusion of the underlying Investigation, and Masimo no longer sells any version of the Masimo W1 to consumers.”

The redesigned Apple Watch pulse oximeter uses a paired iPhone for the results. | Image credit-Apple
So, what does the pulse oximeter feature do? It measures the oxygen saturation of your blood. More precisely, it measures how much oxygen your red blood cells are carrying from the lungs throughout the rest of the body. If you’re healthy, this reading should be within the range of 95% and 100%. Readings below 90% are considered a sign that the person has an underlying medical issue.
During the pandemic, people with a pulse oximeter reading of under 80% while not having any classic signs of distress (noticeable shortness of breath or blue lips) were said to be acclimated to the lack of oxygen, which was said to show that the person had a severe case of COVID. Thus, a low pulse ox reading often was a sign that a person needed to get medical help before he started looking or feeling sick.
